- What do I do if my attorney isn't doing what she was paid for?
I'm asking on behalf of my mother-in-law. She recently went through a divorce that was finalized a little less than a year ago. Her attorney had everything signed off on by the judge including for her alimony and child support .

Sometimes clients forget that the Attorney works for you and not the other way around. Never hire an Attorney without signing an employment agreement detailing the responsibilities of both lawyer and client and the costs for the services. Lawyers are supposed to help make your journey through the legal system a little easier, not harder and more stressful.
If the Attorney is not doing his/her job then fire them and hire someone who will. there is no shortage of willing lawyers.
